Solidarno,
BRID

Solidar support from Organisation for workers' initiative and democratisation to security guards in Norway
Workers working in private security firms affiliated to the Norwegian Workers' Union went on strike on Wednesday, October 16, 2020, following failed negotiations for a new collective agreement.
Like security guards in Croatia, Norwegian workers work in difficult and risky conditions with extremely low levels of material rights. Although after the last strike in 2010 they were promised equalization of salaries with those in the industry, even 10 years later their salaries did not increase, and since 2016 there has been further reduction. They are not paid extra for night and weekend work, nor are they compensated in any way for many overtime hours. According to many workers, they have almost no private life at all, and they usually come home to sleep. In the conditions of the epidemic, the need for their work has significantly increased, and they are often put in situations where they work on the first lines of defense against the coronavirus, unprepared, thus risking their own health for the social good. However, their work is not acknowledged and many have been fired in recent months under the pretext of lack of funds, with an additional burden falling on those who managed to keep their jobs.
Organisation for workers' initiative and democratisation (OWID), an NGO committed to the protection and promotion of workers' rights, democratic decision-making processes among the workers and economic democracy, gives full support to workers affiliated to the Norwegian General Workers' Union (NAF)!
Demands for decently paid work and secure working conditions have no alternative!
In solidarity,
OWID
